4th grade students were introduced to the artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Georgia O'Keeffe was an American artist who lived from 1887-1986. She was famous for her huge enlarged paintings of flowers. You can learn more about this artist from the PBS.org website. And from this book - My Name is Georgia which I shared with the students
After the students learned a little about the artist, they picked a magazine page with an image they wanted to enlarge in the style of O'Keeffe. They used a viewfinder to pick a section of the image to draw from.
The image inside of the viewfinder was enlarged onto a large piece of white paper. Students used oil pastels to color the drawings. Below are some of the wonderful results!
Washington has been my "Home" school for many years now. I enjoy teaching all the different students who make up this diverse school. I have taught a multitude of lessons in this building and have learned just as much from all of the students.
